Oslo III: 14 – 16 June 2021

Voices from the Ground

UNDP works in 170 countries to strengthen universal peace and prosperity and promote positive action for people and the planet. With seventy-one countries experiencing at least one death from terrorism in 2019, and the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic impacting violent extremism in ways not yet fully understood, Preventing Violent Extremism (PVE) remains a core element of UNDPs work on peace. But with the health and disinformation waves of COVID sweeping the globe, it has been more difficult to hear the voices of those working at the local and national levels to prevent violent extremism.

Oslo III is bringing you the opportunity to listen and learn from voices on the ground, communicating the lived experience of efforts to prevent violent extremism and the reasons why it is more important than ever to continue the focus on prevention. Hear from our government and civil society partners working on the frontline on how the violent extremism landscape has changed, and their ideas of how preventing violent extremism should look in the future.
