Kristin Janson is currently Counsellor (Political Affairs) at Canada’s Permanent Mission to the United Nations in New York where her files include counter-terrorism. She joined Global Affairs Canada in 2007 and was posted at the Canadian Embassies in Afghanistan and Israel.  Her previous roles in Ottawa include Chief of Staff for the Assistant Deputy Minister for International Security and Analyst with the Foreign and Defence Policy Secretariat at the Privy Council Office. Before joining Canada’s foreign service, she worked for the UN Special Rapporteur on the Human Rights of Internally Displaced Persons. She has a Juris Doctor from the University of Toronto, a Masters in Human Rights from the London School of Economics, and is a member of the Law Society of Ontario.
